Mad Money

click the pic
In addition to the more than $700,000 Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's political action committee raised during the first half of the year, an additional $200,000 came in since her July 3 announcement she's stepping down.
According to Federal Election commission reports filed Monday, the former Republican vice presidential candidate brought in $732,867 in donations through June 30.
Another $200,000 came in after the deadline - all of it in the days following Palin's July 3 announcement she's stepping down as Alaska governor.

"Party of the Easily Manipulated"

In September, in one of the presidential campaign's more refreshing and unscripted moments, conservative columnist Peggy Noonan chatted with NBC's Chuck Todd about Sarah Palin, when both thought their microphones were off. Palin's addition to the Republican ticket, Noonan said, was "political bullshit."
Ten months later, Noonan's opinion of the resigning Alaska governor seems to have deteriorated further. In her Wall Street Journal column, Noonan just unloads on Palin.
Noonan, methodically and thoroughly, simply takes Palin apart, detailing the governor's inability to be thoughtful, unwillingness to learn what other think, reluctance to explain or even understand her own policy positions, and tendency to say things that are "scattered, illogical, manipulative and self-referential to the point of self-reverence."

Looney Logic

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin says her decision to resign was 'tough,' but motivated by 'wasteful, expensive' ethics violations and lawsuits she says started when she announced her run as vice president on the Republican ticket last year.
She expressed herself in what seemed like a long, rambling run-on sentence filled with buzz words, colloquialisms, and pathetic conservative rhetoric that is difficult to understand and doesn't make much sense.

King Kicks King

miserable fuck
In the latest of his sidewalk dispatches, New York Representative Peter King (Republican) takes aim at the mortal national foe that is Michael Jackson coverage.
In a two-minute YouTube video that appears to have been smuggled out of Iran, King has his say about the nonstop Jackson coverage the last nine days. He somehow blames the intense interest in the suspicious death of the biggest pop star of his generation on political correctness and the media, King's old standbys.
"Let’s knock out the psychobabble. He was a pervert, a child molester, he was a pedophile," King says in the video, posted Sunday. "And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country? I just think we’re too politically correct.

'English-Only' Supporters Can't Spell

Speaking under a misspelled banner, right-wingers who want to make English the official language of the U.S. showed no sense of irony.
On Saturday, Pat Buchanan hosted a conference to discuss how Republicans can regain a majority in America. During one discussion, panelists suggested supporting English-only initiatives as a prime way of attracting "working class white Democrats."
One salient feature of the event was the banner hanging over the English-only advocates. The word conference was spelled “Conferenece.”

Blatant Bigotry - No Accountability

dumbass
A prominent South Carolina Republican killed his Facebook page Sunday after being caught likening the First Lady to an escaped gorilla.
Commenting on a report posted to Facebook about a gorilla escape at a zoo in Columbia, S.C., Friday, longtime GOP activist Rusty DePass wrote, "I'm sure it's just one of Michelle's ancestors - probably harmless."
Busted by South Carolina political blogger Will Folks, DePass told WIS-TV in Columbia, "I am as sorry as I can be if I offended anyone. The comment was clearly in jest."
Then he added fuel to the fire by saying, "The comment was hers, not mine," claiming Michelle Obama made a recent remark about humans descending from apes...seems no one can find any reports of such a comment.

Gay Marriage Advocate : Dick Cheney

Apparently, former Vice President Dick Cheney and most Republicans don't see eye-to-eye on the issue of same-sex marriage.
Speaking at the National Press Club, Cheney said he's not against gay marriage. Cheney's daughter is gay.
In the same speech, Cheney also confused the names of Osama bin Laden and President Barack Obama.

Louisiana Senate Race Gets Stormy

Look out old boobs in the Senate, there might be a new pair, err, new senator coming your way! Stormy Daniels of, well, Stormy Daniels pornography fame is thinking about running for a Senate seat in 2010 representing her home state of Louisiana, going up against Republican senator, David Vitter. Unlike Vitter who had indiscretions of a sexual nature in private, but eventually made public, Daniels has been having sex for public consumption for several years now. She is practically scandal-free! Who couldn’t use that from a candidate?

Joe the Homophobic Plumber

Joe the Plumber, aka Samuel Wurzelbacher, sat down for an lengthy interview with Christianity Today to discuss his views on the future of the Republican party. Republicans Demand Payback from Specter

When he announced the other day that he was switching to the Democratic Party, Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter offered to return campaign donations from any contributors who might take offense.
Turns out that includes a lot of his Senate Republican colleagues who lent money to the cause.
Georgia Republican Johnny Isakson was first in line -- asking Specter to return his $5,000 leadership political action committee contribution. Other Republicans requesting refunds on behalf of their PACs: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky ($10,000), Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander ($5,000), Texas Sen. John Cornyn ($5,000) and Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker ($5,000).

Conservatives Confounded by Colbert

According to a study from The Ohio State University, which proves, with math and stuff, that lots of conservatives seem to not understand the intrinsic, underlying joke of The Colbert Report.
A lot of conservatives are going to be pissed when they realize that Stephen Colbert's performance at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Dinner was not, in fact, an awkward and ineffective attempt to praise President George W. Bush, but actually a bitter and satiric criticism of his incompetence!

The GOP: Dazed & Confused

Bill Maher's editorial in the Los Angeles Times skewers conservatives in his signature articulate style...here's an excerpt:
If conservatives don't want to be seen as bitter people who cling to their guns and religion and anti-immigrant sentiments, they should stop being bitter and clinging to their guns, religion and anti-immigrant sentiments.
Here are the big issues for normal people: the war, the economy, the environment, mending fences with our enemies and allies, and the rule of law.
And here's the list of Republican obsessions since President Obama took office: that his birth certificate is supposedly fake, he uses a teleprompter too much, he bowed to a Saudi guy, Europeans like him, he gives inappropriate gifts, his wife shamelessly flaunts her upper arms, and he shook hands with Hugo Chavez and slipped him the nuclear launch codes.

Teabaggers Seeped with Anger

Republican Gresham Barrett -- the upstate congressman running for South Carolina governor next year -- got a frosty response at the Tea Party in conservative Greenville Friday for his support of the bailout last year.
Despite the prolonged boos, hisses, back-turning and yells of "Go home!" Barrett got through his remarks.
Still: A reflection of the populist intolerance and misguided anger on the right for even Republicans seen as supporting big spending.

Texas Threatens Secession from the Union

Speaking at an anti-tax protest Wednesday, Texas governor Rick Perry brought up the fact that Texas had the right to secede from the union if things in Washington got bad enough.
Speaking to an anti-tax "tea party,” the Republican governor also dismissed criticism that people protesting taxes across Texas and throughout the country were "right wing extremists."

...they may not be extremists, but they're certainly not history scholars either...they should do research on the Boston Tea Party for which they named their protests...the issue then was No Taxation without Representation ...what they've been protesting today is something entirely different...we won't even touch on the whole 'teabaggers' title...

Republican Racists Run Rampant

A Republican women's club in San Bernardino County sent out a recent newsletter with a photo of Barack Obama surrounded by fried chicken, watermelon and ribs, sparking widespread outrage and rebuke from GOP leaders and Democrats.
The illustration shows the Democratic presidential candidate's head atop a donkey's body on a bogus $10 bill referred to as "Obama Bucks." Inscribed on the money are the words "United States Food Stamps" surrounded by stereotypical African American food.
The organization's president said she meant it "to represent food, nothing else."
