Jim Carrey and director Robert Zemeckis brought a bit of holiday cheer to the Cannes Film Festival on Monday with a sneak peak of "Disney's A Christmas Carol," a new slant on the Charles Dickens classic in which the actor plays skinflint Ebenezer Scrooge and several other characters.

MGM and the Farrelly brothers are closing in on their cast for "The Three Stooges."
The studio has Sean Penn set to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard.
The studio is zeroing in on Benicio Del Toro to play Moe. Del Toro is a huge Stooge fan...although, it seems Curly is his favorite...

Girls on Film

With fierce, oversize grooves, drama-queen sexuality and hook-laden songs that keep dance floors crowded, it's no surprise that Hollywood has come a knockin' for Von Iva's rockin'. This year, the San Francisco threesome served as Zooey Deschanel's fictional band Munchausen by Proxy in the Warner Bros. film "Yes Man," a Jim Carrey comedy that opens Dec. 19. They celebrate the release of their new, aptly titled EP "Girls on Film".

Zooey Teams with Von Iva

The upcoming Jim Carrey/Zooey Deschanel comedy Yes Man will feature a cameo from the female rock trio Von Iva. According to Vogue's supplemental mag Fashion Rocks, the band backs Deschanel (who is a true indie balladeer in She & Him) in the movie. The women come together as a foursome in film as the Munchausen by Proxy, "collaborating on new tunes that look back to both Blondie and girl bands of the eighties." The movie is slated to come out some time before the end of 2008.
