Vatican Torn: Social Networking or Sociopathy

VATICAN CITY - You won't get an email saying Pope Benedict added you as a friend and you can't "poke" him or write on his wall, but the Vatican is still keen to use the networking site Facebook to woo young people back to church.
A new Vatican website, www.pope2you.net, has gone live, offering an application called "The pope meets you on Facebook," and another allowing the faithful to see the Pope's speeches and messages on their iPhones or iPods.

The Holy See is struggling to contain international anger over the Pope's claim on his first official visit to Africa that Aids "cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems".
The Pope's remarks about condoms, and a recent furor over his lifting of the 20-year excommunication of a British bishop who has questioned the Holocaust, has left him looking isolated and out of touch, prompting calls for a radical shake-up of the way the Holy See delivers its message.
The Pope initially told reporters flying with him to Cameroon that AIDS was "a tragedy that cannot be overcome by money alone, and that cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems".

The Italian Church wants its followers to forswear text messaging, social networking websites and computer games in the run-up to Easter.
While many Italians traditionally give up fatty foods or, in extremis, alcohol, the appeal to go without some of the trappings of the modern world, including Facebook, iPhones and computer games, on Fridays – and on other days if possible – is unprecedented.
It appears to stem partly from Pope Benedict XVI's recent warning to the young not to substitute "virtual friendship" for real human relationships.

CATHOLIC priests need some "street-level" sex education to prevent abuse cases, porn star Belladonna says. She is advising Pope Benedict XVI to let priests watch porn and has offered 300 of her own films to the Catholic church in Australia for distribution to priests.

Pope to host Bush in Medieval Vatican Tower...

Pope Benedict XVI will uncharacteristically host talks with U.S. President George W. Bush in a restored medieval tower on Friday, to repay him for a warm reception at the White House, the Vatican said.
The pope usually receives heads of state in his private study in the Apostolic Palace, overlooking St. Peter's Square.
St. John's Tower is a round structure on a hilltop inside the Vatican gardens that is sometimes used as a residence for important guests.
After their private talks, Bush and the pope will stroll in the gardens to see a statue of the Madonna.

Pope blames society for sex scandal...
THE sick and twisted Pope attempted to divert blame yesterday...first he berated U.S. bishops, not for their disgusting antics but for their 'poor handling' (inability to cover-up) of the child sex scandal that has rocked the Catholic Church... Then he chose to use a scapegoat by laying most of the blame on the breakdown of values in U.S. society.Yet, last year 689 allegations of abuse were lodged, and the church paid $655 million to settle child sex abuse cases involving members of the clergy...but it wasn't their fault!
Even still...the Pope received a huge reception at the White House and will celebrate mass before almost 50,000 people in Washington's new baseball stadium.
