iPorn Comes and Goes

For an all-too-brief flicker, porn made it onto the iPhone.
Until last Wednesday, Hottest Girls, an Apple-approved iPhone app, had stuck to nothing more racy than girls in bikinis. Then, it went topless.

Apple, the Liver & the Law

Steve Jobs' medical condition turned out to be more serious than Apple Inc. officials had previously acknowledged -- and that has analysts and legal experts questioning whether the company ran afoul of federal securities rules.
Apple had disclosed in early January that Jobs had a "hormone imbalance" and would take a leave of absence, but never said he was so sick that he needed a liver transplant.
Companies are not required to divulge medical details about executives, lawyers said. But they are required to disclose "material" information, which is defined as what a reasonable investor would need to know to make an informed decision on buying or selling stock.

Steve Jobs' Liver Transplant

Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave from Apple Inc. since January to treat an undisclosed medical condition, received a liver transplant in Tennessee about two months ago. The chief executive has been recovering well and is expected to return to work on schedule later this month, though he may work part-time initially.

iPants

The latest example of a cool marketer-created iPhone experience is not an app but an ad. Apparel maker Dockers San Francisco has created a "shakable," motion-sensitive ad that uses the phone's motion-detecting feature.
The innovative ad, dubbed Shakedown 2 Get Down, features "freestyle dance expressionist" Dufon dancing around the screen wearing a pair of Dockers Vintage Workwear Khakis. The ad is embedded in select iPhone games. When it appears in between levels of gameplay, users are prompted to shake their phone to get Dufon to dance.

Steve Jobs Takes Medical Leave

Letter to Staff

Team,

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Steve

Steve Jobs Health Declining Rapidly

According to Gizmodo.com, Apple misrepresented the reasons behind the Macworld Jobs keynote cancellation. Allegedly, the real cause is his rapidly declining health. In fact, it may be even worse than imagined:
Steve's health is rapidly declining. Apple is choosing to remove the hype factor strategically vs. letting the hype destroy Apple when the inevitable news comes later this spring.
This strategic loss will be less of a bang with investors. This is why Macworld is a no-go. No more Steve means no more hype. Saying they are no longer needing Macworld is the cover designed by the worldwide "loyalty" department.

And we should rememeber Steve Jobs didn't attend the first MacWorld Expo.

Walmart Sells iPhone?

Leaked Walmart Memo Details iPhone Pilot Launch Program

Remember all those people who camped out and waited on line at Apple stores to be among the first to snag an iPhone?
Well, that novelty and feeling of smug superiority might soon wear off if the rumors are true that Apple Inc. may sell its sleek smart phone at Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
As you can see in the memo above, although it’s a bit blurry, there is no mention of a $99 iPhone anywhere. The rumor that quickly erupted into a snowball of inaccuracy, even gaining traction in mainstream media, has simply been wrong.
