Curse of the Colonel Lifted?

Osaka, Japan - A statue of Colonel Sanders, Kentucky Fried Chicken's founder, is displayed by Osaka city officers after it was recovered from the sludge of a river nearly a quarter century after it went missing on March 11, 2009.
The discovery made national headlines and television news because the disappearance of the statue occured in 1985 after fans of the popular local professional baseball team Hanshin Tigers threw the statue into the river after the team won their only Japan Series championship.
The lack of another championship since 1985, including two losses in the finals in 2003 and 2005, has been hence blamed on the "curse of the colonel" by fans.
