Radio host Darian O'Toole has died

In a story you pray is an April fools prank, Radio host Darian O'Toole has died at an Oakland, California hospital following a long illness, AllAccess.com reports. She was 40. The NY Daily News said she died of respiratory failure while recovering from a broken leg. She was at KSAN, KIFR Free FM and K-BIG in San Francisco as well as stations in New York, Seattle and Sacramento. Here's a link to a 1997 San Francisco Chronicle story about her when she was on the rise.

...In the mid 1990's Darian held camp on a different portion of San Francisco's radio dial than where Curtrock and I had set up camp.

I will never forget, what would became a daily ritual as I would get home to hear Darian's voice on my answering machine screaming about something we had said about her and she of course had said about us...

I would call her back, so she could scream in person, I think it was therapy for both of us, years later we laughed about those calls...

She was an original in a radio world covered with copy cats...

- Chuck

...our sincere condolences go out to Darian's family and friends...
