Last Titanic Survivor has Died
Millvina Dean, the youngest passenger on the Titanic and the last living survivor, died yesterday at a nursing home in Southampton, England. She was 97.
Millvina was just two-months old when she made it off the Titanic alive with her mother and brother. Her father went down with the ship, because he decided to stay behind to help rescue more passengers.
A couple of weeks after they were rescued, Millvina's family returned to England. Millvinia worked as a cartographer for the British government during World War II. In 1972, she retired from her job as in the purchasing department of a Southampton engineering firm.
Recently, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio and James Cameron, co-stars and director of the 1997 film 'Titanic', donated money to the Millvina Fund to help pay for her nursing home.
