The manager of Obama Fried Chicken says the New York City restaurant now plans to keep its name despite protests.
Mohammad Jabbar said Tuesday the owner has changed his mind about replacing the sign on the front of the Brooklyn business. He says the name was chosen as a tribute to the president and four out of five customers support it.
There are two New York City fried chicken restaurants in predominantly black neighbourhoods are under fire for putting President Barack Obama's name on their signs.
City Councilman Charles Barron said on Friday that he will organise a demonstration next week outside Obama Fried Chicken in his district in the borough of Brooklyn.
Organisers said they may also target Obama Fried Chicken & Pizza in upper Manhattan's Harlem neighbourhood.
