American Apparel's ads have often flirted with nakedness—very very young girls revealing their impressive assets in leotards, short shorts, or sprawled out on a second-hand sofabed wearing only soiled panties, come-hither looks, and lust. Somehow, the ads, which double as cheeky send ups of exploitation chic and clear examples of actual exploitation, have become targets for post-Feminist love and ire.
