28th Anniversary of Mount St. Helens Eruption

The volcano erupted on May 18, 1980 at 8:32 a.m. sending rock, molten lava and ash in all directions. A volcanic ash column rose high into the atmosphere and deposited ash in 11 U.S. states. By the time the ash settled 57 people had been killed and thousands of animals died.
