Smurfs turn 50

The Smurfs kicked off their 50th birthday celebration in Belgium today. They were created in 1958 by cartoonist Pierre Culliford AKA: Peyo (1928-1992). Their hit TV show started in 1981. To celebrate organizers will release a 3D Smurf film next year, a new comic book and a remastered DVD collection of their TV show.
