Vatican Poised to Reinstate the Knights Templar

VATICAN CITY - The Knights Templar, the medieval Christian military order accused of heresy and sexual misconduct, will soon be partly rehabilitated when the Vatican publishes trial documents it has closely guarded for 700 years.
Ignored for centuries, documents about the heresy trial of the ancient Christian order discovered in the Vatican's secret archives are being published in a limited edition — with an $8,377 price tag.
The Knights Templar were members of a military and religious order founded in Jerusalem in 1118. They originally banded together to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land following the First Crusade.
Pope Clement V suppressed the order for heresy in the early 1300s, but the mystique and legend surrounding them have survived.
