Not a Bin Laden
Australian comic Chas Licciardello, dressed as Osama bin Laden, was arrested outside George W. Bush's hotel at the APEC summit in Sydney.
A fake motorcade flying the Canadian flag and chauffeuring a television prankster dressed as Osama bin Laden managed to penetrate security checkpoints at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Sydney on Thursday, stopping just 10 metres from a hotel where U.S. President George W. Bush is staying.
Eleven cast and crew from 'The Chaser's War Against Everything', a satirical show carried by the Australian Broadcasting Corp. were arrested in an incident that has embarrassed police and perhaps upstaged Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's presence at the major gathering of 21 world leaders.
The comedians said they opted to use the Maple Leaf in their stunt because they figured Canadian delegates would not arouse suspicion from the huge police corps guarding the summit.
