As the World Turns' Makes History with Locked Lips

History was made when Van Hansis (Luke Snyder) and Jake Silbermann (Noah Mayer) engaged in a five-second kiss last Friday on the soap As the World Turns. This marked the first kiss between men on daytime television, following the kiss between Eden Riegel and Olga Sosnovska on All My Children four years ago.
After weeks of physical tension between openly gay Luke and Noah, who is dating Maddie Coleman (Alexandra Chando) on the show and has been distracted with family pressures, the two men finally gave in to temptation. In the scene, Noah moved in for a kiss while Luke was helping him tighten his necktie. Luke drew back briefly and then continued kissing in a passionate embrace.
