Preparations at Neverland Continue...

In death, as in life, Michael Jackson is doing things with fairytale extravagance. The singer's body will be transported to his funeral in a white carriage led by two horses, instead of the traditional black vehicle, it is understood.
His body will then be placed on show in a glass coffin at Neverland, to give fans a chance to say their personal farewells.

Farrah Fawcett Funeral Details

Farrah Fawcett's life was celebrated this afternoon at a private funeral in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in LA..
Ryan O'Neal, was among pallbearers who accompanied the casket, covered in yellow and orange flowers, into the Roman Catholic cathedral.
Fawcett's friend Alana Stewart, Farrah's ex-husband, Lee Majors and "Charlie's Angels" co-star Kate Jackson were among early arrivals before the hearse pulled up, accompanied by 10 motorcycle officers.
Fans and news media watched from across a street. The service was closed to the public.
Diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2006, Fawcett's battle with the disease was documented in "Farrah's Story," which aired last month on NBC.

Neverland Owner Writes an Open Letter

Thomas J. Barrack Jr. has lived near Neverland Ranch for decades and recently came into ownership of the property, via his private-equity firm, when Jackson defaulted on a loan. Although Jackson partially still had a stake in the land, he moved to a large Holmby Hills estate where he died last week.

An Open Letter to the Santa Barbara Community
From Thomas J. Barrack, Jr.
The windswept face of Grass Mountain and the oak tree studded hills of the Santa Ynez Valley are once again the backdrop for a global drama of epic proportion. Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50 on the eve of a universal comeback.
As his family, friends and millions of fans across the globe seek outlets in which to express their grief, Michael’s only true home, the Neverland Ranch, has become a temporary sanctuary where fans and family can still feel the presence of his kind and compassionate soul.
The universal curiosity about Neverland and its connection to Michael is an unchangeable fact. How grieving fans are treated as they arrive to pay their respects will be viewed with great interest by the world. As we all know, the impressions left by Michael’s last interaction with Santa Barbara County were not positive.
Consequently, I would like to simply frame the issue upon which we all need to focus: It is a reality that the world will quickly descend on Santa Barbara and Neverland as fans continue to grieve, and as Michael’s legacy gains perhaps more appreciation after his death than during his life.
We must be prepared for the fact that visitors and fans will come, with or without permission or an invitation. As a consequence, all actions being taken at the moment are aimed at creating a well thought out and coordinated plan amongst the family, the Sheriff, the County regulatory agencies, the fire department, local proprietors, local press, local residents and the Highway Patrol to protect and preserve the interests of all constituencies.
We must also prepare to accommodate Michael’s family’s wishes as they contemplate the location of his final resting place and their own return to the tranquil grounds of the Michael Jackson family compound.

Death, Depravity & Dollars

OK! Weekly is bracing for some flak over its pick for this week’s cover. While other publications went with feel-good images to commemorate Michael Jackson, OK! chose a grim photo of the dying star being whisked to the hospital June 25.
A knowledgeable source said British parent Northern & Shell paid the equivalent of roughly $500,000 in U.S. dollars for exclusive magazine rights to the photo in the U.S. and U.K.
OK! claims that the photo, which is similar to an image that has appeared on Entertainment Tonight’s Web site, is the last one showing Jackson alive. It plans to use the image in a number of its international editions.
News and entertainment weeklies are counting on huge newsstand sales this week due to the public’s huge interest in the pop phenom’s death.

Young, Dumb & Dead

Teenagers tend to wildly overestimate the odds of dying young, and teenagers who think they'll be dead before age 35 are far more likely to abuse drugs, attempt suicide, get arrested, or contract HIV. Scientists have known for quite a while that teenagers tend to think that an early death is much more likely than the infinitesimally small risk it really is. What's recently been discovered, and is intriguing for teens and the people who love them, is that there seems to be a connection between having a fatalistic take on life and behaving in ways that actually make it more likely that you will die—or at least be sick and miserable—instead of blossoming into a young adult.

The Plastic Ono Band Revisited

video

John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band Live In Toronto ’69 is a rare look at one of the world’s most influential popular artists at a pivotal moment in his career. Filmed on the eve of the release of the Abbey Road LP — the last Beatles album to be recorded — this is the only performance ever caught on film of John Lennon & the Plastic Ono Band. It had been three years since Lennon had performed onstage with The Beatles. Seemingly on a whim, John and wife Yoko Ono hopped on a plane with guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Klaus Voormann and drummer Alan White to travel to the Toronto Rock ’N’ Roll Revival festival showcasing some of Lennon’s early musical heroes — among them Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. As it turned out, Lennon and the newly formed Plastic Ono Band played an equally significant role that night in the history of rock ’n’ roll, as it is widely believed this concert foreshadowed the official end of The Beatles.

Liz Breaks Silence

"My heart ... my mind ... are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can't imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together. I was packing up my clothes to go to London for his opening when I heard the news. I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. It can't be so. He will live in my heart forever but it's not enough. My life feels so empty. I don't think anyone knew how much we loved each other. The purest most giving love I've ever known. Oh God! I'm going to miss him. I can't yet imagine life without him. But I guess with God's help ... I'll learn. I keep looking at the photo he gave me of himself, which says, 'To my true love Elizabeth, I love you forever.' And, I will love HIM forever."

Farrah's co-angels also paid tribute yesterday by speaking about her passing.
Kate Jackson
: "I will miss Farrah every day. She was a selfless person who loved her family and friends with all her heart, and what a big heart it was. Farrah showed immense courage and grace throughout her illness and was an inspiration to those around her. When I think of Farrah, I will remember her kindness, her cutting, dry wit and, of course, her beautiful smile."
Jaclyn Smith
: "Farrah had courage. she had strength, and she had faith. And now she has peace as she rests with the real angels."

R.I.P.: Sky Saxon

AUSTIN, Texas — Sky Saxon, lead singer and founder of the 1960s band the "Seeds," who had a Top 40 hit in 1967 with "Pushin' Too Hard," has died after a brief illness.
Saxon's Publicist said he died Thursday but did not have other details. He was in his 60s.
The Seeds sprang up in California, and their garage-band sound with Saxon's distinctive vocals became a favorite of the flower power generation. Another hit single of 1967 was "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" and their song "Mr. Farmer" was included in the soundtrack for the movie "Almost Famous."
The Mick Jagger-influenced vocals by Saxon (born Richard Marsh) dominated the sound and in turn influenced later punk rockers.

For me he was more than that, he was my idol, he was a role model, he was someone to cry to when my childhood was unbearable, he was a brother, he was a dear friend. Unfortunately Michael and I had a falling out on September 10th 2001 and that broken friendship had never been repaired … I am filled with tremendous sadness and remorse. All I choose to remember from this point is the good times we shared and what an inspiration he was to me and the rest of the world. Nobody will ever be able to do what Michael Jackson has done in this industry, and he was so close to doing it all again. I am truly, and deeply sorry for all of the heartbroken fans and supporters worldwide."

A Bubbles Update...

Micheal Jackson rescued Bubbles from a cancer research center in 1985. They were true friends for years, but Micheal had to send Bubbles off to a sanctuary in Sylmar, California in 2002 when he started acting up a bit.
At the time, his Bubbles' trainer Bob Dunn told The New York Daily News, "He's in his 20's. He's doing fine."
According to this report, Bubbles is now living in Florida.
Click here to see where Bubbles is living today.

UPDATE:
“What happened to Bubbles in the end was he started to jerk off in front of busloads of school children visiting Neverland Ranch. So they sent him to monkey school, retrained him and put him in diapers. One day, some Japanese schoolchildren came to Neverland and they brought the monkey out for the kids. So out comes the monkey who somehow managed to reach into his diaper and then proceeded to throw heaping handfuls of monkey poop at the kids. That was the end of Bubbles; they sent him to 'Monkey Ranch' or something...”

(FYI: Michael Jackson reportedly disciplined his chimp Bubbles by shaving his ass.)

Irony Is Alive And Well

Dumb and Dumber
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is the latest member of the ever-growing club of politicians who have strayed from their wives, as well as the latest in the ever-growing list of politicians who were indignant over President Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky and demanded he either resign or be impeached.
In 1998, Sanford was a Republican congressman from South Carolina when he demanded "moral clarity" from Clinton and called on him to resign. "Very damaging stuff. This one's pretty cut and dried," Sanford said in September 1998. "I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally [to resign]." So far, Sanford has not indicated that he has any plans to resign as governor.

Apple, the Liver & the Law

Steve Jobs' medical condition turned out to be more serious than Apple Inc. officials had previously acknowledged -- and that has analysts and legal experts questioning whether the company ran afoul of federal securities rules.
Apple had disclosed in early January that Jobs had a "hormone imbalance" and would take a leave of absence, but never said he was so sick that he needed a liver transplant.
Companies are not required to divulge medical details about executives, lawyers said. But they are required to disclose "material" information, which is defined as what a reasonable investor would need to know to make an informed decision on buying or selling stock.

Piracy, Ignorance and the Law

The $1.92 million verdict against a Minnesota woman accused of sharing 24 songs over the Internet could ratchet up the pressure on other defendants to settle with the recording industry.
A federal jury in Minneapolis ruled that Jammie Thomas-Rasset must pay $1.92 million for willful infringement of the recording industry's copyrights by posting the music on the file-sharing site Kazaa.
Under federal law, the recording companies are entitled to $750 to $30,000 per infringement but the law allows the jury to raise that to as much as $150,000 per track if it finds the infringements were willful. The jury decided on $80,000 per song.

Copyright laws have been on the books for a very long time and artists have fought long and hard to establish and preserve those rights...Perhaps the laws need modification, but protection for artists and intellectual property must exist...
The (general) attitude of the public and technology publications of 'outrage' is, in and of itself, outrageous...it's simply more of the selfish, apathetic attitudes that exist these days...oh, and ignorance...bottom line: music file sharing is stealing.

Michael Jackson is being trained by Lou Ferrigno.
The ‘Incredible Hulk’ actor is paying secret visits to the ‘Thriller’ star’s Los Angeles home to help him prepare for his forthcoming ‘This Is It’ run of shows at London’s O2 arena.
A source told The Sun:
“Lou has been visiting Michael to build him up so he can perform his dance routines. “But Michael refuses to lift weights. He doesn’t want to bulk up.”
The 50-year-old singer – who weighs a reported 126lbs and eats just one meal a day - is reportedly battling skin cancer and is said to be terrified gaining weight will damage his chances of beating the disease.
Lou says:
“Michael is delicate. “He likes me, he feels safe with me. He was nervous about people looking at him when he’s training.”

Schwarzenegger returned the favor, giving Steinberg a metal sculpture of bull testicles with a note suggesting the Sacramento Democrat would have to grow a pair to make tough budget decisions, according to sources. There are conflicting reports on the size of the gift. Comparisons range from football (AP) to melon (LA Times).
What kind of melon, the Times did not specify, but it's safe to say the sculpture was large enough.

PETA supports "brushing flies away rather than killing them" and was disappointed that the President had gone ahead and squashed the pesky fly.
PETA has sent a Katcha Bug, a device which traps bugs and allows their safe release back into nature to the White House.
